The WWE superstar Asuka has been out of action since May 5, when she and her tag team partner Kairi Sane lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship at Backlash. Later, it was revealed that Asuka had suffered a knee injury that became severe overtime, requiring surgery and a long break from WWE programming. The exact nature of her injury is not known, but she posted photos on her social media account, telling fans that she underwent surgery. Following her surgery, “The Empress of Tomorrow” is heading to a rehabilitation center for recovery.
However, according to a report, Asuka is not expected to return from her knee injury before the end of 2024. But Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select stated that anything can happen, as the type of surgery is not known yet.
Damage CTRL is struggling without Asuka
Ramen Woman’s absence is a huge blow to the Raw women’s division, even though it has depth and talent. Asuka is a former Raw Women’s Champion and has been the cornerstone of the division and her absence leaves a void. She is amazing as both a singles star and in a tag team and if she doesn’t return before the end of the year, it will definitely be a huge blow.
In Asuka’s absence, Damage CTRL continues to be a prominent feature on Raw. But things haven’t gone well for them lately. A key member of the group, IYO SKY, has qualified for the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, but she has been critical of the group as to how it needs to change. Dakota Kai failed to win her MITB qualifying match, while Kairi Sane has also struggled to find success since Asuka left.
Her return is anticipated before WrestleMania
The timeline for Asuka’s return remains uncertain, but the faction is clearly struggling without her. Hopefully, Asuka will make her much-anticipated WWE return and be back in action by WrestleMania time. As she recovers, the members of her faction will need to find a way to stay relevant in the Raw’s women division.
