During Friday’s show of WWE SmackDown, Asuka seemed to have injured her leg as she limped into the final segment of the show, with Damage CTRL attacking Bayley. The injury is not said to be damn serious, but it could be a broken ankle, which could rule her out of WrestleMania 40 and has already seen her removed from the live events.
Asuka was seen limping
“Ramen Woman” is a tough wrestler, but she was seen limping and trying to be a part of the match towards the end. It’s not entirely clear when her foot injury occurred, but it wouldn’t be good news for WWE if she is unable to take part in the build-up to Bayley’s match with Iyo Sky at WrestleMania. There has been no mention of a defense of the Women’s Tag Team Championships, so an injury may not change WWE’s plans, but a broken ankle would be unfortunate news.
Dakota Kai might take Asuka’s place
It is speculated that the injury might have occurred when Asuka jumped off the ring apron and landed awkwardly. The moment before Iyo jumped into the sky ring, Asuka appeared to be without any problems. WWE fans are hoping that it is nothing serious. If Asuka can’t wrestle and was supposed to, the good news for WWE is that Dakota Kai just returned from her injury and could take Asuka’s place.
The tag-team titles will be affected
It has been a prevalent theme that the women’s tag team titles have brought with them bad luck for the title holders. At the time those titles were introduced, almost one-half of every pair that had ever held them suffered an injury. Due to the timing of the aforementioned injuries, the titles did not gain much momentum or a chance to become something significant in WWE. Kabuki warriors holding the belts gave the titles a chance to become something. Asuka’s injury is the latest injury to affect those belts. If the injury is minor, WWE won’t have to do anything with the belts because they have been defended regularly. But if the injury is serious, either Dakota and Kair will hold them while Asuka is out, or the company will decide something else.
