The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) made a significant effort to collect samples from Indian athletes competing in several sports before the 2017 Asian Games. The National Anti-doping Agency collected an astounding number of 914 samples in June and July. According to the most recent data released by NADA on Thursday, these samples, which were largely urine specimens but also included a few blood samples, were collected between June 1 and July 31. Approximately 30 samples were taken during the National Inter-State Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar (June 15–19), which served as the selection trial for the Hangzhou Asian Games beginning on September 23. This information is also shown in the data.
During these two months, cricket players Hardik Pandya and Smriti Mandhana provided samples. All other hockey players are female, except goalie PR Sreejesh.
The hierarchy of sample collection during these two months was notable for the considerable contribution of track and field athletes with 199 samples, followed by boxing (71), aquatics (65), weightlifting (56), cycling (55), kabaddi (52), wrestling (46), and shooting (43).
Wushu (35), fencing (33), canoe (32), badminton (24), hockey (23), triathlon (23), rowing (20), archery (15), football (11), judo (11), softball (10), electronic sports (8), sport climbing (7), and cricket (2) make up the other sports disciplines where samples were collected.
