Arsenal vs Wolverhampton Wanderers: Preview
Arsenal form analysis
AFC have been in excellent league form, with three wins, a loss and one draw from their last five matches. On October 21st, they came from two goals down to secure an impressive 2-2 draw away at Chelsea, with Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard on target. Trossard then assisted Eddie Nketiah’s hat-trick in a dominant 5-0 home win over Sheffield United on October 28th. However, Arsenal’s winning run came to an end with a narrow 1-0 loss away at high-flying Newcastle on November 4th. But Mikel Arteta’s side bounced back with an emphatic 3-1 home victory over Burnley on November 11th, thanks to goals from Trossard, William Saliba and substitute Fabio Vieira.
Most recently, on November 25th, Arsenal left it late but eventually made it five games unbeaten with a 1-0 win away at Brentford sealed by Kai Havertz’s late header. With in-form forward Nketiah supported by the creativity of Saka, Trossard and Martin Odegaard, Arsenal carry a significant attacking threat. Defensively they have been solid, keeping three clean sheets in their last five. Sitting top of the Premier League table, confidence is high around the Emirates and Arsenal look well equipped to maintain their title challenge.
Wolverhampton Wanderers form analysis
Wolverhampton Wanderers’ recent form has been inconsistent, with two wins, two losses and a draw from their last five matches. On October 8th, they drew 1-1 at home against Aston Villa, with Hwang Hee-Chan cancelling out Pau Torres’ opener. This was followed by an impressive 2-1 away victory over Bournemouth on October 21st, secured through goals from Matheus Cunha and late substitute Sasa Kalajdzic. However, Wolves then struggled in a 2-2 home draw against Newcastle on October 28th, twice going behind before fighting back through Mario Lemina and Hwang. Defeat followed away at Sheffield United on November 4th, despite a late consolation from January signing Josué Bellegarde.
Most recently on November 11th, Wolves staged a dramatic late comeback to beat Tottenham 2-1 at home, with late goals from Pablo Sarabia and match-winner Lemina overturning Benjamin Bourigeaud’s early opener. Wolves have struggled defensively, keeping just one clean sheet in their last five games. But in attack the likes of Cunha, Kalajdzic and Hwang carry a threat. If manager Julen Lopetegui can make Wolves more solid at the back, their attacking talent could still inspire a push up the Premier League table.
