Arsenal vs Manchester United: Preview
Arsenal form analysis
The Gunners have made an excellent start to the season. Winning 3, losing 1 and drawing 1 of their last 5 games to sit pretty in the early Premier League standings.
They ended last season in a mixed manner. They first were bettered by Forest in a narrow and then followed it by thrashing relegation-battling Wolves 5-0 at home on the final day, a game in which Gabriel Jesus starred with a brace.
That form has continued into this new campaign. After narrowly beating Crystal Palace 0-1 and coming from behind to beat Nottingham 2-1, Arsenal produced a disappointing person by having to settle for a point against 10 men Fulham
There is a freshness about Arsenal as they aim to qualify for the Champions League and maybe challenge for the title again. Continuing their free-scoring form while keeping things tight at the back will be key to contending for a surprise title tilt.
Manchester United form analysis
Manchester United have made a brilliant start to the season under manager Erik ten Hag. They have produced 4 wins and a loss from their last 5 league games.
They ended last season strongly by thrashing rivals Chelsea 4-1 at home. Then on the final day they came back to win against Fulham. But their form has fluctuated since.
United kicked off the season with a gritty 1-0 home win over Wolves thanks to Varane’s header. However, a poor performance saw them beaten convincingly by Spurs in a 2-0 away loss.
United did respond with an impressive comeback 3-2 victory over Forest despite trailing 2-0 early on. But dropping points consistently is a concern in these early stages.
Overall, it’s been an up and down beginning to Ten Hag’s reign as United struggle for consistency. Turning draws into wins is the next step, especially away from home. But there are positive signs as Ten Hag’s philosophy takes shape.
