The Armenian UFC fighter Arman Tsarukyan claims that he will break Islam Makhachev’s 14-fight winning streak whenever the two men face each other next time. Makhachev recently made a successful defense of his lightweight title against Dustin Poirier at UFC 302 and Tsarukyan is expected to face him next.
After defeating Charles Oliveira at UFC 299, Tsarukyan was offered to fight Makhachev. However, the short turnaround time to be ready for June 1 meant that he turned down the fight. Then “The Diamond” was offered to fight and he accepted.
Arman was asked about the potential rematch
Makhachev and Tsarukyan have faced each other once before in 2019, a clash that is said to be one of the toughest for Islam till date. Ahead of the potential rematch, Arman was asked about the rematch with Islam Makhachev, about which he shared his prediction.
Arman believes that Makhachev is overhyped and the Russian thinks he is unbeatable. “Islam thinks nobody can beat him. But I can definitely do that. When Islam came to the UFC 302 weigh-ins, everyone started booing. He wanted to fight in New York, but after this fight I think he wants to go to Abu Dhabi because New York doesn’t like him. I’ll beat him by KO, no doubt,” said Tsarukyan.
Makhachev is coming off an incredible victory
Makhachev has now called for a shot at the Welterweight title following his recent win against Dustin Poirier at UFC 302. He is known to cut a large amount of weight to make the 155-pound limit. But because of a potential rematch lined up with Tsarukyan, he might need to wait slightly longer before moving weight to seek a second title.

An MMA journalist spoke to Makhachev following his recent victory and asked if he would welcome the fight with his former opponent. The Journalist revealed Makhachev has no problem with his next opponent being Arman Tsarukyan. His preference is for the fight to take place at Madison Square Garden in November and he wants to fight in the US more often.
