There comes a surprising move in CPL as Antigua & Barbuda Falcons has been unveiled as the new franchise replacing Jamaica Tallawahs. Worldwide Sports Management Group, owners of the franchise, announced on Tuesday, February 20, in an opening ceremony at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, which is set to be their home ground.
Krishna Persaud, the founder and president of Worldwide Sports Management Group, expressed excitement about the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons’ participation in the Republic Bank CPL. He highlighted their goal of fostering a culture of winning within the team and promoting success beyond the field. Persaud emphasized the importance of creating a positive atmosphere not only among the players but also among all individuals associated with the franchise, including the enthusiastic fans who will gather at their home base in the picturesque Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in beautiful Antigua.
The inclusion of Antigua & Barbados means Jamaica will not host any fixture in CPL

Previously Antigua hosted a franchise named Antigua Hawksbills in the first two CPL seasons, but they won only three matches and were replaced by St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2015. The entry of Antigua & Barbados means that Jamaica will not host any game in the CPL 2024. A spokesperson of CPL mentioned that there will be efforts to create a Jamaica-based franchise in 2025. Sabina Park in Jamaica last hosted a CPL fixture in 2019 & league’s chief executive Pete Russell criticized the island for its reluctance to engage with cricket. Details on the overall structure of the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons & their coaching & management staff will be announced a few days later.
Coming to the CPL 2024, the league will begin from August 28 to October 6 with games taking place in Atigua for the first time in ten years. The other venues for the team’s fixture are Barbados, Guyana, St Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago. The national stadium in the province of Guyana will host the final of CPL.
