Anthony Joshua is set to face Daniel Dubois in a highly anticipated all-British clash at Wembley Stadium, London, on September 21 this year. The bout is expected to be a world-title clash. Dubois recently showed his excellent skills and toughness with a sensational win over Filip Hrgovic on June 1 and has emerged as the frontrunner to face Joshua. Deontay Wilder was also set to get a chance to take on AJ. However, after a second consecutive defeat, his hopes for a fight have been scrapped.
Dubois silenced his critics with excellent win
Dubois’ win over Hrgovic showcased an incredible comeback and his ability to compete at the highest levels in the heavyweight division. “Dynamit DDD” was labeled a ‘quitter’ after suffering two big defeats at the hands of Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk, but now he has shut down his critics by overcoming the adversity and securing an eighth-round stoppage win against Hrgovic.
Former English boxer Spencer Oliver confirmed the potential clash between Joshua and Dobois. He stated that Anthony Joshua wants to become a three-time heavyweight champion and that can happen on September 21 at Wembley Stadium. Spencer also said that Dubois deserves the fight against Anthony Joshua after his brilliant win against Filip Hrgovic.
Dubois will most likely fight to defend his title
With his victory over Hrgovic, Dubois won the IBF interim title and is expected to be elevated to full champion status as the IBF might strip Usyk of the title due to his upcoming rematch with Tyson Fury on December 21. This scenario would see Dubois defend his newly captured title against Joshua, giving fans an exciting fight between two British boxers. On the other hand, Zhilei Zhang’s TKO victory over Deontay Wilder could lay the foundation for a future clash with Joshua.

As the stage for the heavyweight bout between Joshua and Dubois sets, Oliver also says, “There are many great fights in this heavyweight division. We obviously want to see Anthony Joshua in there with Daniel Dubois but the fight everyone wants to see is the Tyson Fury fight.”
He concluded by stating that if Tyson can correct the mistakes by going up against Usyk in December and Joshua defeats Dubois, then they should get that for all the belts. Now, boxing fans are eagerly waiting for the official announcement and hoping for a thrilling clash between Dubois and Joshua.
