British Boxer Anthony Joshua has recently criticized Tyson Fury for his disrespectful treatment of Oleksandr Usyk before Fury’s defeat. “The Gypsy King,” who lost to Usyk by a point last month, had previously mocked “The Cat,” calling him a rabbit and belittling his size, suggesting an easy win. After the fight, Fury even claimed that he won easily, despite most viewers considering Usyk the clear winner. Fury went on to say that Usyk only won three rounds.
AJ criticized fury for his disrespectful behavior
Joshua believes that Fury’s behavior was very inappropriate and feels he got what he deserved with the defeat. During the interview with the press, AJ said, “I’m glad Fury isn’t the undisputed champion. I just think he is an idiot. He is very disrespectful and he steps on other people to make himself feel better. The way he disrespected Usyk, calling him a rabbit and a middleweight, is not good for the sport. Respect lifts the sport up, but Fury’s actions bring it down. He deserved the loss.
Joshua and Fury share a big rivalry
The relationship between Joshua and Fury was once cordial, but it has deteriorated over time and tensions have grown as they failed to agree on a bout. The rivalry escalated further after a heated FaceTime call organized by Saudi Boxing Chief Turki Alalshikh. Joshua has lost to Usyk twice and is now eager to face Fury by 2025. On the other hand, Tyson Fury aims to reclaim his position against Usyk on December 21.
For now, Joshua is set to face Daniel Dubois for the IBF world title on September 21, with the win potentially leading to a clash with the winner of the Fury vs. Usyk rematch.
Joshua also reflected on his rivalry with Fury and stated that he doesn’t care if he wins or loses anymore. AJ just wants to fight him. Joshua further said that he can’t wait to be 40 to face Fury. They tried to make the fight happen, it was signed as well, but then fell apart. If Joshua defeats Dubois in his upcoming match and Fury successfully gets his revenge on Usyk, both men will have a chance to become the undisputed champion, and boxing fans will get to see one of the biggest All-British fights.
