Amit Chakraborty is one of West Bengal’s most talented football players. The 29-year-old defender caught the attention of the football community last year. Thanks to his steady performance at the National Games, which were hosted in Gujarat. He later won over experts, including one of Bengal’s more seasoned coaches, former Indian international footballer Biswajit Bhattacharya, by putting on a trustworthy performance in the recently conducted senior national championship qualifications for this year’s Santosh Trophy. Amit Chakraborty’s Struggling Journey
Amit is a native of the Hooghly district’s Uttarpara. His father, who was employed by a private corporation, has been retired for about six years. Amit spent his early years in his uncle’s home. He became interested in football at the young age of five. Amit Chakraborty’s first club was Uttarpara Netaji Brigade. A former football player for East Bengal, Bastav Roy, and Mohun Bagan served as coaches here.
Amit’s father was in severe financial trouble at the time, making it nearly impossible for him to join the club. The entrance charge to the club was only Rs 200. Amit had to work a temporary job to get the money. He stated: “I spent a few days working in a meat shop, managed to save up Rs. 200, and was accepted into the club, my first football training facility.”
The Attribute to the Coaches
Amit has had enough opportunity to study the game with many coaches. Under the instruction of Bastav Roy, he used to acquire the fundamentals of the game. Amit Chakraborty acknowledged Shankar sir, the one who particularly advised him to begin playing as a defender while talking about his experience. Amit said, “I can’t recall his name. The first coach to instruct me to start playing as a defender was Shankar Sir, though. Otherwise, I would start out playing forward.”
When Amit was a member of the East Bengal junior squad and training under knowledgeable trainers like Manojit Chanda, Swarup Das, and Bikash Panji, he turned in a standout performance for the East Bengal junior team in the Manchester Cup. Then on the senior level, Amit came in close as one of the pupils of East Bengal’s former national coach Armando Colacco, former international Debjit Ghosh, as well as Biswajit Bhattacharya. This was throughout his periods with numerous major Kolkata football teams, such as George Telegraph. Amit expressed his gratitude to all of his instructors by saying, “I have incorporated the best aspects of everyone’s coaching methods, and I’m still learning.“
Amit, however, has a special regard for Biswajit Bhattacharya, the senior Bengal team’s current coach. Amit fessed up, “He can interact with us in such a cordial way that none of the players are reluctant to approach him. He has mastered the art of managing guys. He is skilled at bringing out the best in football players. He is a teacher as well as a coach.”
Cafu and Deepak Mondol
Although he usually plays as a sideback, Amit Chakraborty is also capable of playing as a wing-half in football. During his team’s counterattacks, he has a penchant for going on overlaps and enjoys sending decisive crosses from the flanks. That may be the reason this Bengali boy considers renowned former Brazilian international Cafu to be his favorite player. Amit remarked, “I frequently watch Cafu’s training and game footage. I make a lot of effort to improve my technique and fundamental abilities.”
Deepak Mondal, a former Indian international, is Amit’s preferred defender in Indian football. Amit expressed his thanks for playing on the same red-and-gold brigade team as Deepak Mondal in the 2014–15 season. Amit declared, “I played junior football back then. Only two Kolkata Premier League games that season offered me the chance to play. I still consider myself fortunate to have the chance to work out every day with Deepak Mondal. He used to provide me with insightful tips on how to advance and impressed me.”
Amit Chakraborty on the Hunt for a Job
Amit Chakraborty aspires to represent his nation. Additionally, he expects to hear from any ISL-playing club. He still wants a steady job badly. Amit lamented.
To support my family, I urgently need a job. My ability to raise my game will also be greatly enhanced by obtaining a permanent position. As a football player, the money I receive from Customs is by no means adequate.
