The Robins began with an emphatic 6-1 home thrashing of Ebbsfleet, inspired by a Conn-Clarke brace alongside goals from Newby, Baines and Donawa. They backed that up by edging past Maidenhead 1-0 away thanks to another Conn-Clarke strike. Alty then came from behind to beat Oxford City 2-1 away, with Jones netting the winner after Southern-Cooper’s opener. However Oldham then had to settle for a 1-1 draw away at Wealdstone, pegged back by Bowen after Reid’s opener. They returned to winning ways with a hard fought 1-1 home draw against Maidenhead, taking the lead through Reid before being denied at the death. Last time out, Oldham drew 1-1 at home again, with Norwood netting before being cancelled out by Rees’ equalizer for Dagenham.
Overall, it’s been a decent start by Oldham as they adapt to life in non-league after last season’s relegation. They’ve showcased their attacking threat, led by Reid. However, a lack of clean sheets has cost them points at times.
