Almeria vs Alaves: Preview
Almeria form analysis
Rojiblancos come into their next match looking to improve on a run of three games without a win in LaLiga. Their latest outing was an agonizing 3-2 home defeat to Real Madrid, giving up a 90th minute winner after battling back from 2-0 down to draw level. Prior to that they earned back-to-back goalless draws against Girona and Mallorca, highlighting issues in attack. Indeed, Almeria have struggled for goals all season.
With leading scorer Largie Ramazani grabbing just three goals, finding more productivity in attack is crucial if they are to pull away from the relegation zone. Defensively the newly promoted side have been relatively solid, conceding 32 goals so far. But losing all three games against the league’s top three shows they must tighten up against quality opposition. Sitting 16th and just two points above the relegation zone, Almeria need to start turning draws into wins if they are to retain their top-flight status. Making the most of Ramazani’s pace and Baptistao’s quality on the counter could be key.
Alaves form analysis
After struggling for most of the first half of the season, Alaves come into their next match with renewed optimism after back-to-back wins lifted them out of the relegation zone. A hard-fought 1-0 victory over struggling Cadiz made it consecutive LaLiga victories, building on an impressive 3-2 triumph away at Europa League-chasing Sevilla. Netting three goals in that surprise win highlighted Alaves’ dangerous attacking potential with Ruben Duarte and Mamadou Sylla impressing.
However, it followed three straight defeats over the festive period, including agonizing late 1-0 losses to both Real Madrid and Real Sociedad. Indeed, defensive issues have plagued Alaves all season and finding greater solidity at the back remains crucial if they are to avoid an immediate return to the second tier. But with Alaves just one point from safety after their consecutive wins, building momentum with their next two games at home could prove pivotal in their bid to climb up in the table.
