UFC featherweight fighter Alexander Volkanovski has revealed that there was a fight at the hotel following the UFC 304 event in Manchester, England. He stated that one of the people involved in the brawl was a fighter. However, he is not sure if the other person was a fighter or not. While revealing all this on his YouTube channel, the former featherweight champion claimed that he tried to help security personnel bring the situation under control.
Volkanovski gives insight about the brawl
Alexander Volkanovski is often quiet, but he has revealed that the brawl took place in the fighter hotel after UFC 304. “The Great” refused to reveal who was involved in the brawl but confirmed that one of the guys was a fighter. “I didn’t know if the other guy was a fighter. I don’t think it was a random,” said Volkanovski on his YouTube channel. The Australian claimed that he tried to calm the situation down, but the fighters’ actions were too much and he kept getting around him and security personnel on occasions.
UFC 304 was full of surprises and shockers. The promotion got a new welterweight champion as Belal Muhammad defeated Leon Edwards and also ended his winning streak. Tom Aspinall avenged his only UFC loss by KOing Curtis Blaydes within just 60 seconds of the match. On the other hand, Paddy Pimblett scored a triangle choke submission over King Green. Muhammad Mokaev, despite scoring a win over Manel Kape and maintaining his undefeated streak, got fired from the UFC.
“The Great” had fun in England
Although Volkanovski refused to reveal the name, he said that he was not sure if there was any recorded footage of the incident. The former featherweight champion attended UFC 304 in England and was also present at the pre-fight Q&A event. In addition, he also had a lot of fun by visiting Manchester United’s home ground, Old Trafford, and Manchester City’s Etihad. He was accompanied by fellow UFC fighters Michael Venom Page and Julianna Penna.
The former champion Alexander Volkanovski is definitely one of the greatest featherweights in UFC history and was a long-reigning champion of the division. After a stunning first face off against Islam Makhachev, he suffered a horrific knockout in the rematch. However, the Australian has not ruled out a return to lightweight and in a recent interview, he stated that fighters like Conor McGregor, Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje excite him for a fight.
