Alex Pereira is on a great rise in the Light Heavyweight Division of UFC since winning the title and defending it twice already. However, the Brazilian fighter still has few opponents to defeat in this class. Pereira’s manager has now hinted at who could be next for the champion.
Periera’s next opponent hinted by his Manager
After defeating three former UFC light heavyweight champions twice in a row, with the most recent win against Jiri Prochazka, “Poatan” looks ready for the new challenger. According to a recent post on the official UFC Europe Instagram page, fans are being asked to predict Pereira’s next opponent, with options including Magomed Ankalaev, Jan Blachowicz, the winner of Tom Aspinall vs. Curtis Blaydes, and the winner of Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic.
Pereira’s manager Jorge Guimaraes further fueled the speculation by commenting “B” on the post, hinting that Jan Blachowicz could be Pereira’s next opponent. Interestingly, just hours before the Instagram post, Blachowicz hinted at a rematch against Pereira on Twitter, saying, “I have never lost a rematch. And I won’t.”
The Polish fighter attended UFC 303 over the weekend and expressed his confidence in Pereira being his next opponent. Blachowicz mentioned that he expected Pereira’s knockout win over Prochazka and expressed his desire for a rematch to prove his superiority again.
Magomed Ankalaev has put his claim to the title too
Ankalaev also put his claim to the title next and vowed to knock out the current champion. He addressed the fans and said, “Believe me I will knock out Alex Pereira, I don’t need to knock him down, this guy his chin is gone but I know he is very dangerous.” In a follow-up tweet, he stated that two years ago Pereira wasn’t ready to fight him, but today he is the toughest in the division and Ankalaev highlighted that he is also a tough fight in the division for Pereira.
After knocking out Jiri Prochazka at UFC 303, Pereira was asked about the possibility of moving up to heavyweight. He admitted that moving up to heavyweight is in his future, but there is currently no particular interest from the organization.
