UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira is one of the top fighters in the promotion right now. He is on a four-match winning streak and has already defended his title two times this year. However, the Brazilian’s journey to the MMA world was not an easy one, as he had to drop out of school and had to work at a local tyre repair shop. “Pereira” also worked as a bricklayer’s assistant until he began kickboxing. Recently, Pereira posted a story on his Instagram handle, where he can be seen fixing tyres again.
Pereira showed his skills with tyres
Looking at the video, it seemed as if “Poatan” was shooting for a documentary. During the shoot, Pereira showed a glimpse of his expertise with Tyres. Pereira could be seen handling the tyre with great ease and immediately separating it from the wheel. However, this is not the first time Pereira has shown his skills of changing tyres. In June 2024, the Brazilian and his children were going to Las Vegas. While on their way to the destination, the tyre of the taxi in which Pereira’s children were traveling got punctured. Pereira quickly took out the jack and got to work. Exhibiting excellent skills, Pereira changed the tyre in a matter of minutes while the taxi drivers watched in amazement. Recalling the incident, Pereira compared this skill to riding a bicycle.
Pereira said, “It’s just like riding a bicycle: Once you know, you know. Because I thought I didn’t know how to do it anymore… Because the guy didn’t have a jack and had to get a jack from the other once. But you know what I mean, just got it done.”
Pereira is set to defend his title for the third time
While changing tyres is a child’s play for Poatan, his professional career could be in a bit of an upheaval. He has already defended his title twice already this year and will defend it for the third time against Khalil Rountree Jr. However, the selection of “The War Horse” as his opponent over contenders like Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blachowicz has raised a lot of questions among the MMA community. Many UFC veterans have expressed their concern for the Light Heavyweight champion.

According to Chael Sonnen, Rountree Jr. will prove to be a huge threat to Alex Pereira due to his fighting style. Sonnen pointed out that Rountree Jr.’s fighting style is counter-attack-oriented, which could be devastating for Pereira. Since Pereira usually takes an offensive approach, this could leave him vulnerable for a potential knockout strike from Rountree Jr.
