Alex Hales Extends Trent Bridge Stay for Another Blast with Notts Outlaws
Veteran batsman Alex Hales has committed his future to Nottinghamshire, signing a one-year white-ball contract extension that keeps him at Trent Bridge for the 2024 season.
Hales, 35, is the Outlaws’ all-time leading T20 run-scorer with a staggering 4,687 runs to his name. He played a pivotal role in their Vitality Blast triumphs in 2017 and 2020, solidifying himself as a Trent Bridge legend.
The explosive opener is a seasoned campaigner in the shortest format, plying his trade across numerous global leagues.
He holds the distinction of being the leading run-scorer for Sydney Thunder in Australia’s Big Bash League, further underlining his prowess in T20 cricket.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming season, Hales said, “I’m particularly excited to see how we can kick on in 2024 with Joe Clarke as captain. He’ll be a great leader, and with him at the helm, we’ll be well-positioned to challenge for silverware again.”
He recently showcased his form in the Bangladesh Premier League, blasting a 60 off just 33 balls for Khulna Tigers against Rangpur Riders.
Notts head coach Peter Moores hailed the extension as a significant boost, stating, “Alex’s T20 record for Notts is unmatched, and his vast experience adds immense value to any team.
He sets the tone at the top of the order with his aggressive batting and possesses a wealth of knowledge that benefits the entire group.”
Moores further emphasized Hales’ influence on younger players, saying, “The biggest compliment I can give him is that he’s the player our young lads aspire to be around and learn from. His achievements in the game are an inspiration, and his presence fosters a fantastic learning environment.”
With Alex Hales back in the fold and a new captain at the helm, Notts Outlaws will be hoping to build on their past successes and mount a serious challenge for the Vitality Blast title in 2024.
