Ajay Jadeja Hails Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Explosive Knock Against Bangladesh
Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja showered praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal for his blistering performance in the first innings of the second Test against Bangladesh at Green Park, Kanpur, on Monday.
Jaiswal made a fiery start, hammering Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud for three consecutive boundaries in the opening over, setting the tone for India after Bangladesh was bowled out for 233.
The young left-hander showcased his aggressive style, scoring 72 off just 51 balls, including 12 boundaries and two towering sixes. Jaiswal built a 55-run partnership with skipper Rohit Sharma before forming a 72-run stand with Shubman Gill for the second wicket, further solidifying India’s dominant position in the match.
In the second innings, the young batter scored 51 off 45 balls to guide India home when India needed only 96 runs to win the game.
“We have almost become accustomed to watching him do this consistently,” Jadeja remarked on Colors Cineplex. “What Rohit Sharma did with those sixes was incredible, but Jaiswal has been dominating since his debut, whether against England or now against Bangladesh. His positivity on the field was evident for everyone to see.”
Jadeja highlighted the unique aspect of Jaiswal’s innings, noting how he played with the field placements. “His specialty today was manipulating the opposition’s captain and fielders. He moved them with his batting, particularly the deep point fielder.
When they positioned him square, Jaiswal hit straight. It was a masterclass in controlling the field, and that’s what made this knock special,” added Jadeja, himself a former India captain.
Former Indian pacer RP Singh also singled out Jaiswal as the standout performer for India on the penultimate day of the Test match. Singh lauded the collective efforts of the Indian side but emphasized Jaiswal’s impact.
“Everyone contributed, and that’s why India is in such a commanding position,” Singh said. “But if I had to pick one standout, it would be Yashasvi Jaiswal’s batting. His explosive power and intent were crucial. The Indian team batted at an extraordinary rate, nearly double what we expected, and Jaiswal’s aggressive approach was central to that.”
India’s dominance put the visitors on the back foot, leaving Bangladesh bundled out for 146 runs in the second innings. Out of nowhere, India made a match out of it and won it easily with almost two sessions to spare.
