AJ Styles is doing great in WWE now, but he’s ramping things back up as “Air Styles” recently confirmed that he has retired one of his iconic in-ring moves. The Phenomenal One has been one of the most entertaining wrestlers in the company and a big reason for that is his variety of moves. When it comes to elegance, AJ Styles has always brought a lot to the table by combining strikes, technical wrestling, high-flying skills and submission moves.
Why did Styles retire this move ?
He has many impressive moves in his arsenal and one of them is the spiral tap. This move involves Styles leaping off the top rope before twisting his body several times in the air and ultimately falling back onto his opponent below. Even though it’s a stunning move that always gets applause and hooting from the fans, Styles recently revealed that he is retiring this move.
“If you’ve ever heard that If you don’t use it, you lose it, that’s 100% the case. It’s a very weird way to flip and do stuff. I had put it on the back burner for so long, I just lost it. It’s in my head. I can’t pull it off the way. If I can’t pull it off the way…that I want to do, I don’t want to do it at all. If its not perfect, I haven’t attempted it on a trampoline, in a pool, anything.
The Phenomenal One is close to retirement
Spiral Tap is a move that some WWE fans may not be aware of, as Styles admitted that he thinks the last time he attempted this move was back in TNA. With him retiring this move is also hinting that the former WWE Champion is getting closer to his retirement. Even though he is being pushed heavily since his return to the ring, he has been open about the fact that he is moving a step closer to the end of his career as a competitive wrestler because he doesn’t want to embarrass himself more in the ring.

It’s not clear when Styles will officially retire, but fans should enjoy it while he is still around, no matter how many moves he retires. At WWE Backlash 2024, The Phenomenal One proved that he still has a lot in the tank if he wants to continue working, as he has no problem fighting at a higher level. Although Styles failed to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, Styles and Cody Rhodes put on a spectacular main event that had the WWE fans praising AJ with love through some incredible chants.
