Former Indian cricketers Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth found themselves at the centre of attention during a heated showdown during a recent Legends League Cricket match. The incident occurred during a match between Gujarat Giants and India Capitals, in which Sreesanth represented the Giants against Gambhir’s India Capitals. It all came down to a tense moment in the second over of the match, when Sreesanth engaged in a prolonged stare-down with cricketer Gambhir after being hit for a six and a four.
This heated exchange irritated neither player. The former India opener responded verbally and with an equally unwavering gaze towards the fiery pacer. Following the match, Kerala pacer Vijay Shankar took to Instagram to express his displeasure with the Delhi batter’s behaviour. Although Gambhir did not directly respond, he did share a cryptic post on social media, hinting at the need to keep a smile despite the attention. “Smile when the world is all about attention!” Gambhir wrote in his ‘X’ post.

The southpaw, demonstrating his cricketing prowess, contributed significantly to India Capitals’ success by scoring 51 off just 30 balls. His contribution contributed to a challenging total of 223/7 in 20 overs. Despite Sreesanth’s efforts for the Giants, who bagged 1/35 in 3 overs with an economy of 11.70, their team fell short, settling for 211 for 7 in 20 overs, resulting in a 12-run loss.
However, attention quickly shifted away from the game’s outcome and toward the on-field brawl between the two former Indian cricket stars. Sreesanth publicly chastised Gambhir, dubbing him ‘Mr. Fighter’ and accusing him of picking fights without provocation.
“I just wanted to clarify what happened with Mr. Fighter. One who is constantly at odds with his coworkers. For no apparent reason. He has no regard for his senior players, including Viru Bhai. That is exactly what occurred today. Without any provocation, he just kept calling me something very rude that Mr Gautam Gambhir should not have said,” Sreesanth said in a video posted on his Instagram account.
