MVP made his highly anticipated AEW debut during the 2024 Grand Slam edition of Dynamite on Wednesday night. Interrupting a promo from Prince Nana, MVP delivered a message that got fans talking about the possibility of the Hurt Business in AEW. The Tony Khan-led promotion tweeted, “Just when we started to hear about Swerve Strickland, we got a surprise appearance and offer from MVP!”
While Prince Nana was explaining to Tony Schiavone that Swerve Strickland was not yet allowed to return, MVP made his AEW debut. The former WWE star praised Swerve’s previous title run but pointed the finger at management for his recent struggles. MVP gave Nana a business card, suggesting they talk business when Swerve was ready to take himself seriously again.
Lashley is close to becoming All Elite
This led to fans immediately taking to social media to speculate that MVP’s arrival could mean Bobby Lashley’s AEW debut is not far away. Just days before MVP and Lashley were quietly moved to WWE’s alumni section, a trademark was filed for the term “The Hurt Syndicate.” The filling was made by the same LLC that previously held trademarks for MVP and his entrance music during his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Many believe this is a sign that MVP is planning to reunite The Hurt Business, even though there was indication during the show that things were heading in that direction. It could simply be a sign of MVP’s arrival as a manager.
Shelton Benjamin could also join AEW
AEW has not said that MVP has signed, but according to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, MVP has signed a deal. Although they did not share any specific graphic that he is All Elite, if MVP is now officially a part of AEW’s roster, many are wondering if Bobby Lashley could be next. There is also speculation that Shelton Benjamin, who is a former member of The Hurt Business and now a free agent, could potentially join the AEW faction. Benjamin’s addition would reunite the three OG members, creating a strong force in Tony Khan’s promotion.
