ACB cuts down salary of players participating in franchise leagues matches
On Monday, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced new regulations allowing bowlers Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Naveen Ul Haq to participate in franchise leagues, albeit with a salary deduction and a final warning.
Previously, the ACB had denied their request for no-objection certificates (NOCs), delaying annual contracts and restricting participation in foreign leagues for two years. In an effort to ensure players’ commitment to national duty, the board introduced three measures.
ACB mentioned in a statement:
Final Warning and Salary Deduction: Each player shall receive a final written warning and face a specific salary deduction from their monthly earnings and/or match fees,” the board said in a statement.
Limited NOCs: ACB will strictly consider the issuance of the NOCs to the respected players while prioritizing the national duty and ACB’s interests.
Central Contract: ACB may grant central contracts to these players while strictly monitoring their performance and discipline in events.
The first involves a final written warning and a specific salary deduction from monthly earnings and/or match fees. The second measure limits the issuance of NOCs to players, prioritizing national duty and the ACB’s interests. Additionally, the ACB may grant central contracts to these players, closely monitoring their performance and discipline during events.
ACB Chairman Mirwais Ashraf acknowledged the players’ contributions to Afghan cricket but stressed the importance of avoiding future inconveniences, expecting them to represent the country with the utmost integrity.
Despite a promising start for the Melbourne Renegades, Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s Big Bash League season was cut short after just five games due to restrictions imposed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).
However, he’s bounced back quickly, earning a coveted spot in Afghanistan’s T20I squad alongside Naveen Ul Haq and Fazalhaq Farooqi for their upcoming three-match series against India.
