Aberdeen form analysis
Aberdeen’s recent results highlight a team lacking consistency and defensive resilience. After a disappointing 2-0 defeat away to Hearts, Aberdeen were held 1-1 at home by Dundee, dropping points from a winning position after leading through Miovski’s penalty. Defensive issues were apparent again as Aberdeen conceded late to draw 1-1 at home to Celtic, with the defence unable to protect their lead. A 2-1 loss away at Rangers followed as Aberdeen again struggled to hold onto a lead given to them by Miovski.
Most recently, defensive lapses were once more evident as Aberdeen drew a chaotic 3-3 thriller at home against Motherwell, letting slip a two goal lead. Overall, while Aberdeen have shown attacking promise, manager Neil Warnock will be concerned by his team’s inability to protect leads and see out wins. Hibernian form analysis
Hibernian’s recent results highlight a team struggling for consistency and prone to defensive lapses. After coming from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Motherwell, Hibs suffered a chastening 3-0 defeat away at Rangers, outfought and outplayed throughout. Defensive frailties were apparent again as Hibs drew 2-2 away at Kilmarnock, twice surrendering the lead. A heavy 3-0 home loss to St Mirren followed as Lee Johnson’s side turned in another poor defensive display, conceding cheap goals from set pieces.
Most recently, defensive issues cost Hibs again as they lost 2-1 at home to Celtic, undone by two late Idah penalties. Overall, while Hibs have shown attacking promise, Nick Montgomery will be concerned by his team’s inability to keep clean sheets and protect leads. Defensive lapses have undermined their good work going forward. If Hibs can add steel and organisation to their backline, they have the quality in attack to start climbing the table. But eradicating sloppy goals must be the priority if Montgomery’s rebuild is to gain momentum over the coming weeks.
