From Damian Lillard to Dillon Brooks, there are a few well-known names who made headlines for this. In this article, we will tell you about all those names who were involved in these battles in the past.
Matt Barnes
Former NBA player Matt Barnes is one of them who found himself in a custody case. When he split with his ex-wife Gloria Govan, the former star won sole and legal custody of their twins, Carter and Isiah, in 2018. Barnes won his custody battle with Gloria just weeks after she was arrested for alleged child endangerment. He was also given an 18-month restraining order to protect himself against her.
Richaun Holmes
The Dallas Mavericks star’s ex-wife, Allexis, accused him of domestic violence and abuse of their six-year-old son the previous year. Following the couple’s divorce in 2019, she also filed a restraining order against him on behalf of their son. However, the allegations came on the back of an LA Court ruling granting Holmes legal custody of the child in 2022. But Allexis defied the court order by taking her son to Georgia, after which the court ruled in Holmes’ favor and returned the child to his custody.
Trevor Ariza
Ariza was in a legal battle after his ex-wife, Bree Anderson, accused him of not attending scheduled visits with their children. Earlier this February, Anderson is said to have filed a petition requesting Ariza to stay away from him and his children. She also stated that she wants legal custody of both children. In the latest paperwork, Bree has mentioned that she feared for her safety and did not want Ariza anywhere near her or her home.
Damian Lillard
The seven-time NBA All-Star, Damian Lillard, is also embroiled in a custody battle of his children. His ex-wife, Kay’La, filed for sole custody of their three children, saying she protected Lillard’s family man image and stated that she is in a better position to care for the children. This case is something that will last until the 2023-24 NBA season.
