Now that every pre-tournament match has been played, the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 may begin.
Spain won the championship in 2019 and will now defend it against a number of great challengers. Despite the absence of a few notable players, like as Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic, two-time NBA MVPs, this World Cup will still have outstanding players vying for the gold.
In light of this, an International team of writers made the decision to select the top 15 players who will compete in this year’s FIBA Basketball World Cup.
According to their finish position, players were awarded points (15 points for first place, 14 points for second place, etc.). Players were graded according to how well they could execute in this particular environment rather than according to their NBA or individual skill sets since they were seen from a FIBA viewpoint.
The top basketball players at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup are listed below.
2023 Player Rankings For the FIBA Basketball World Cup
1. Luka Doncic, Slovenia
Without question, Doncic is the best player in this World Cup. Because both Antetokounmpo and Jokic were not present, he was alone in first position.
For the Mavericks, Doncic carries a significant offensive burden, but for Slovenia, he is used even more frequently. One only needs to recall his stunning 47-point outburst against France at the 2017 EuroBasket competition.
Despite not having the same level of quality as other teams, the Slovenians will have a lot of “Luka Magic” on their side.
2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Canada
Since 2000, Canada has not competed in the Olympic Games, and it has not placed in the top eight of a World Cup since 1994. In 2023, with Gilgeous-Alexander in charge of the offence, that may alter.
Gilgeous-Alexander, who was chosen for the All-NBA First Team this past season, is unstoppable while going for the basket. The Thunder guard is capable of scoring in a one-on-one matchup with any opponent. He is a strong contender to finish first in the standings.

3. Lauri Markkanen, Finland
One of the most challenging defensive tasks in this competition is Markkanen. He is a fantastic offensive weapon because of his combination of stature, shooting, and quickness. He scored approximately 28 points each game in EuroBasket 2022 on average.
As it must play Australia, Germany, and Japan in the group stage, Finland will rely largely on Markkanen. Markkanen will need to consistently put up large numbers if Finland hopes to advance from that round.
4. Anthony Edwards, USA
Edwards is only 22 years old, but Team USA head coach Steve Kerr has declared that he is “unquestionably the guy.” Edwards has shown throughout the team’s exhibition games that he is prepared to use his time with Team USA to catapult himself to a new level of prominence.
The Americans ought to have little trouble getting past Group C, which also contains Greece, Jordan, and New Zealand. But as the competition becomes tighter, Team USA will need Edwards to perform well under pressure.
5. Jalen Brunson, USA
Brunson, who has established himself as not just the starting point guard for Team USA but also as a crucial leader for a young group, rounds out the top five of these rankings.
Brunson’s skills ought to be a perfect match for the FIBA game. He can score and dish out assists when he has the ball in his hands, but he is aware that there is so much skill all around him that he doesn’t need to control every moment.
